Weaver Unlimited: 5 letters
Unlimited five-letter word ladders for practice and for fun, with no waiting for the next daily puzzle.
Endless five-letter ladders
Unlimited five letters combines the longer words of the five-letter daily with the freedom of Unlimited: a new puzzle whenever you want one, no waiting for midnight, and no streak on the line. Five-letter ladders take more moves on average and reward a different kind of thinking, so a few rounds here are the quickest way to get comfortable before you try the five-letter daily.
A good habit for practice is to solve each puzzle once on your own, then study the optimal route on the result screen. You will start to recognize the bridge words that keep coming back, such as plurals that link two families or common endings like -IGHT, -OUND and -ATER that accept many different first letters.
Using hints to learn
Unlimited is the right place to experiment with hints. A hint fills in the next word of a shortest ladder from wherever you are now, so if you have wandered off course, it shows you the quickest way back rather than the route from the start. Try a few moves on your own, take one hint when you run out of ideas, and see whether you can finish the rest without help. The number of hints you used is shown in your result, which keeps the comparison honest when you share a puzzle link with a friend.
Prefer something quicker? Unlimited four letters has shorter ladders, and the How to play page explains the rules from the beginning.
Unlimited five letters: questions
Are five-letter ladders harder than four-letter ones?
Usually they are longer rather than harder. Each five-letter word has fewer one-letter neighbors, so the shortest route often takes a move or two more, but the consonant pairs and plural endings of five-letter words give you reliable patterns to work with.
Why was my word rejected?
There are three possible reasons: the word is not in the word list, it changes more than one letter compared with the word above it, or it changes nothing at all. A rejected word does not count as a move, so you can simply type another one.
